Will Korra Visit Wan Shi Tong’s Library in Book 2 of The Legend of Korra?

Credit for this idea goes exclusively to a site commentor by the  name of Jason. Thanks for sharing your ideas!

Do you remember Wan Shi Tong’s Library from Book 2 of The Last Airbender? If you don’t, let me refresh your memory: Wan Shi Tong’s Library appeared in an episode called ‘The Library’ in which Aang and the gang traveled to a partially underground library in order to find information on how to defeat the Fire Nation. Ultimately, the Library helped Aang and the gang learn about ‘the day of black sun’ in which an eclipse made Fire Benders bending-less. With this knowledge, Team Avatar helped device a plan known as the Invasion. Even though the plan ultimately failed in the end, it still showed just how useful the Library was to knowledge-seekers.

Something worth noting is that the Library didn’t just contain information on the Fire Nation. It also contained information on a vast variety of topics, one of them being Spirits.

As we all should know, Book 2 of The Legend of Korra is titled Spirit: we will learn all about The Spirit World, the Avatar State and even Spirits in general. I’ve already speculated that Aang could have a major role in guiding Korra on her journeys to The Spirit World, but he probably won’t have all the answers she’s looking for.

Fortunately, Wan Shi Tong’s Library will.

Avatar Aang Could Have a Big Role in Book 2 of The Legend of Korra

Since Book 2 of The Legend of Korra is titled ‘Spirit’, it has been well known that The Spirit World will be very important to Book 2’s plot line. Avatar Korra has already mastered the physical side of being the Avatar, but she must still master the spiritual side. This will likely result in a few episodes devoted specifically to The Spirit World.

In case you may have forgotten, Avatar Aang’s first trip to The Spirit World was full of a lot of confusion and fear. At the time, Aang was a novice to The Spirit World, and thus he needed a bit of guidance. So to help Aang out, Avatar Roku was introduced: he helped guide Aang on his quests in The Spirit World as well as his journey to becoming a fully realized Avatar.

When Korra enters The Spirit World in Book 2, there is no question that she will also feel a bit confused. She will likely feel alone and powerless against the elements before her, but I think Korra will soon realize that she’s not as alone as she may anticipate. Just as Avatar Roku helped Avatar Aang, I believe that Avatar Aang will help guide Avatar Korra.

April Will be a Huge Month for The Legend of Korra

A couple days ago, I stumbled upon a tweet by April Stewart (voice actress) in which she proclaimed that she’d have to keep her mouth shut about The Legend of Korra until April. This led me to speculate that April 2013 could be the release date for Book 2 of The Legend of Korra.

While I still believe that this is true, Book 2 releasing in April is not the only speculations that can be made from Stewart’s tweet. As I have previously said, something will have to happen in April to allow voice actors to start talking more about The Legend of Korra. And even if Book 2 doesn’t release in April, further speculation still leads me to believe that April will be a big month for The Legend of Korra.

Check Avatar Therapy’s YouTube Channel for Even More Avatar Coverage

In case you’re a football fan, you’d know that June and July are pretty much the worst months of the year for football. Literally nothing goes on: First you have the draft in April and then, nothing. We are facing a similar scenario with The Legend of Korra: We had Comic Con in June, and now, we have nothing until who-knows-when.

It’s come to a point now where I have put it upon myself to speculate every aspect of Book 2 of The Legend of Korra just to keep things interesting around the fandom. But enough of me and my plan, today I have stumbled upon an up and coming Avatar YouTube channel that is doing a rather fine job updating its subscribers with all the latest Avatar news. So incase you’re getting bored of reading my rambles, please do check out Avatar Therapy’s YouTube channel. And why not subscribe, too?

The channel is relatively new, but maybe you could help out a fellow Avatar Fan and give him a community just as you have so graciously given me one.

The channel is similar to this blog, in fact. It gives you all the late breaking information and speculations on The Legend of Korra, just in a video format. I enjoy watching the videos, so maybe you will too.

The Legend of Korra Book 2 Speculation: The Villain

This is a series where we speculate everything there is to know about Book 2 of The Legend of Korra. We have currently covered speculation on the book’s setting and character development. Today we focus on the book’s villain.

At this year’s San Diego Comic Con, Mike and Bryan revealed a lot of information regarding Book 2 of The Legend of Korra. One of the major reveals was the identity of the book’s villain: The Dark Spirit, who will be voiced by Grey DeLisle, the voice actress of Azula.

Despite the fact that we know little about this future antagonist, we can certainly speculate (and most likely confirm) that this new antagonist will be a spirit residing in the Spirit World. One important factor we cannot confirm, however, is the threat level of this new villain. In case you are unfamiliar, the threat level is essentially how threatening or dangerous a villain is to society.

So far, every villain created by Mike and Bryan has been a threat to society. Ex-Fire Lord Ozai had an entire Nation fighting with him while he tried to take over the entire Avatar World. Amon used his power of taking bending away as leverage in order to gain support as he tried to eliminate benders in Republic City.

So how exactly is The Dark Spirit a threat to society?

Book 4 of The Legend of Korra Confirmed, Expected to be Last Book in the Series

A few days ago, we reported that 26 more episodes of The Legend of Korra were ordered. The big question at the time was how these 26 episodes were going to be divided: Would they all be devoted to one book, or would they be split up into two books?

Bryan Konietzko cleared it up for us on his Tumblr yesterday by explaining that the 26 additional episodes would be broken up into Book 3 and Book 4, each containing 13 episodes. Here is the breakdown directly from Tumblr:

Why Toph’s Husband could be The Duke

One of the major plot points not answered in the season finale of The Legend of Korra: Book 1 was the identity of Lin Bei Fong’s father or Toph’s husband. We knew how Aang and Katara got together and we assumed that Sokka and Suki got together, but what about poor Toph? Surely she must have at least had some sort of relationship, right?

Well she did, and we have reason to believe that her (lone?) relationship was with The Duke. Before I get into that whole thing called “evidence”, I wanted to provide just a tad bit of background information on The Duke in case you may have forgotten about him.

The Duke is of Earth Kingdom nationality and he joined the Freedom Fighters when he was caught stealing food from them. According to Jet, The Duke never had a home so it is assumed that he is an orphan. So how does an Earth Kingdom Orphan end up with a wealthy, Earth Bending prodigy? I’ll show you.

Legend of Korra Episode 10 ‘Turning the Tides’ Recap

Episode 10 of The Legend of Korra titled ‘Turning the Tides’ was a bit more simplistic than past episodes – until the end. It contained the common theme of Good vs. Evil: Equalists attacked Republic City and it was up to the Avatar and her friends to help save the people. The theme was certainly present throughout the episode’s entirety, but what made the episode exciting was the element of surprise at the very end.

Episode 10 starts off by showing Korra eating with Mako, Bolin, Asami, Tenzin and his family. Korra tells the gang everything she encountered while being held captive: Tarrlock is the son of Yacone and Amon took Tarrlock’s bending away.

Afterwards, we see Tenzin asking Lin Bei Fong to stay and protect his family while he leaves Air Temple Island for a short excursion. Lin agrees and Tenzin travels to meet with the Chief Officer. Upon his arrival, Tenzin is informed that the Equalists have attacked and captured the rest of the Council Members. This essentially leaves Tenzin in control of Republic City.

When Tenzin leaves the vicinity along with the Chief Officer and his men, they are all attacked by Equalist Mech-Machines. The Chief Officer and his men are eventually captured, leaving Tenzin and a few others to fend for themselves. Tenzin fights off the Equalists for some time, but he is ultimately defeated in the end.

Legend of Korra Season Finale Title, Air Date and Trailer

Because the first season of The Legend of Korra is almost over, the air date and title of the last 2 remaining episodes have been revealed.

  • Episode 11 will be titled ‘Skeleton in the Closet’
  • Episode 12 will be titled ‘End Game’

Just to clarify, even though the season finale of The Legend of Korra will air in two weeks, Episode 10 will still air next week. For some reason, there was some confusion about that, but hopefully this clears everything up.

We don’t have a clip of Episode 10 just yet, but we do have a short trailer of the season finale. The season finale will be a one hour special that will air both Episode 11 ‘Skeleton in the Closet’ and Episode 12 ‘End Game’ together.

Amon is Much More Powerful than Previously Thought

In yesterday’s episode of The Legend of Korra, Amon had confirmed himself to be the main antagonist of the season. Over the course of the past few weeks, Amon and his role as the villain did come into question when Tarrlock captured Korra and revealed his illegal ability to blood bend.

But all this talk of Tarrlock being the ‘real villain’ came to a halting stop when Amon proved that he was much more than a ‘non-bending’ Equalist leader.

In episode 9 ‘Out of the Past’, we confirmed two things about Amon: He actually has the ability to take away bending and he is unaffected by blood bending.

The first ability is not unheard of; Tenzin confirmed that Avatars’ generally have this ability, but what doesn’t make sense is how Amon acquired this ability. The latter ability, however, is unheard of. As far as we know, Amon is neither affected nor bothered by blood bending.
