Amon’s Identity was Actually Confirmed in January

The season finale of The Legend of Korra aired this passed weekend and it certainly exceeded my expectations. We did not cover the final two episodes as much as we hoped, since I was out of state this past weekend with no computer access, but pre-episode coverage does not matter too much in my opinion. In the end, it doesn’t matter how many write-ups you read or trailers you watch: It’s the final product that matters. But that was the past, and right now we have a few things ahead of us. One of them being a real head smacker: Amon’s identity was actually revealed in January, and we knew about it.

Legend of Korra Episode 10 ‘Turning the Tides’ Recap

Episode 10 of The Legend of Korra titled ‘Turning the Tides’ was a bit more simplistic than past episodes – until the end. It contained the common theme of Good vs. Evil: Equalists attacked Republic City and it was up to the Avatar and her friends to help save the people. The theme was certainly present throughout the episode’s entirety, but what made the episode exciting was the element of surprise at the very end.

Episode 10 starts off by showing Korra eating with Mako, Bolin, Asami, Tenzin and his family. Korra tells the gang everything she encountered while being held captive: Tarrlock is the son of Yacone and Amon took Tarrlock’s bending away.

Afterwards, we see Tenzin asking Lin Bei Fong to stay and protect his family while he leaves Air Temple Island for a short excursion. Lin agrees and Tenzin travels to meet with the Chief Officer. Upon his arrival, Tenzin is informed that the Equalists have attacked and captured the rest of the Council Members. This essentially leaves Tenzin in control of Republic City.

When Tenzin leaves the vicinity along with the Chief Officer and his men, they are all attacked by Equalist Mech-Machines. The Chief Officer and his men are eventually captured, leaving Tenzin and a few others to fend for themselves. Tenzin fights off the Equalists for some time, but he is ultimately defeated in the end.

Legend of Korra Episode 10: Turning the Tides Preview

A clip of The Legend of Korra Episode 10 has been released. It shows Korra telling Tenzin and Bei Fong all that she learned about Tarrlock in the previous two episodes.

The clip is not very much, but nonetheless, it’s all we have of Episode 10 so far. Unfortunately, I cannot embed the video into this post. But if you would like to view it, click here to be taken to the Tumblr page with the clip.

Rumor: Legend of Korra Book 2 to be Called ‘Spirit’

Update: If you are here looking for a potential release date for Book 2 of The Legend of Korra, check out our prediction here.

The latest Legend of Korra rumor on the web is that Book 2 (or Season 2) of The Legend of Korra will be titled ‘Spirit’.

Since Book 1 of The Legend of Korra is winding down, I naturally began to have thoughts about Book 2. The question that lingered in my head the most was what the book’s title would be.

In Avatar: The Last Airbender, seasons 1-3 were titled Water, Earth and Fire respectively because Aang had to learn to bend those elements in that order. Since Korra only has to learn Air Bending, Book 1 is titled Air. But when all of the bending disciplines are supposedly mastered after Book 1, what will Book 2 be called?

That’s when I came across this rumor and began to get very excited for events to come.

Legend of Korra Season Finale Title, Air Date and Trailer

Because the first season of The Legend of Korra is almost over, the air date and title of the last 2 remaining episodes have been revealed.

  • Episode 11 will be titled ‘Skeleton in the Closet’
  • Episode 12 will be titled ‘End Game’

Just to clarify, even though the season finale of The Legend of Korra will air in two weeks, Episode 10 will still air next week. For some reason, there was some confusion about that, but hopefully this clears everything up.

We don’t have a clip of Episode 10 just yet, but we do have a short trailer of the season finale. The season finale will be a one hour special that will air both Episode 11 ‘Skeleton in the Closet’ and Episode 12 ‘End Game’ together.

Amon is Much More Powerful than Previously Thought

In yesterday’s episode of The Legend of Korra, Amon had confirmed himself to be the main antagonist of the season. Over the course of the past few weeks, Amon and his role as the villain did come into question when Tarrlock captured Korra and revealed his illegal ability to blood bend.

But all this talk of Tarrlock being the ‘real villain’ came to a halting stop when Amon proved that he was much more than a ‘non-bending’ Equalist leader.

In episode 9 ‘Out of the Past’, we confirmed two things about Amon: He actually has the ability to take away bending and he is unaffected by blood bending.

The first ability is not unheard of; Tenzin confirmed that Avatars’ generally have this ability, but what doesn’t make sense is how Amon acquired this ability. The latter ability, however, is unheard of. As far as we know, Amon is neither affected nor bothered by blood bending.

‘The Legend of Korra’ Episode 9 ‘Out of the Past’ Recap

The Legend of Korra episode 9 titled ‘Out of the Past’ was yet another fantastic episode. It further developed the characters, showed us the old ‘Team Avatar’ in numerous flashbacks, and thickened the plot to a point that all my speculations have been proven faulty.

The episode starts off with Tarrlock essentially announcing that the Equalists had ambushed him and Avatar Korra the night before to take Korra captive. In case you may have forgotten, this isn’t what actually happened. In episode 8, we see that Tarrlock attacks Korra and takes her captive himself.

When Tenzin, Bei Fong, Mako, Bolin and Asami hear about this, they decide to break into an Equalist-run underground passage in hopes of finding Bei Fong’s lost men and Korra. Towards the end of the tunnel, Tenzin and company find Bei Fong’s lost men, but not Korra. The lost men confirm that Amon had taken away their bending once he took them hostage.

Later, Tenzin and company find out from an Equalist member that the Equalists were not responsible for the attack that Tarrlock accused them of. Tenzin then uses this as evidence to convict Tarrlock of framing the Equalists for the attack and taking Korra hostage himself.

‘Legend of Korra’ Episode 10 to be Titled ‘Turning the Tides’

The XFinity television guide has officially revealed the title of the 10th Legend of Korra episode. Episode 10 will be titled ‘Turning the Tides,

We should be able to do some speculation on the episode once we either see episode 9 or find a description of episode 10.

But for now we’re in the dark.

Update: The description for the episode has been released VIA TV Guide:

Republic City gets bombarded by the Equalists.

‘Legend of Korra’ Episode 9 ‘Out of the Past’ Description Revealed

20120603-071040.jpg

Episode 9 of The Legend of Korra titled ‘Out of the Past’ has finally received an official description.

Korra tries to understand her visions; Tenzin and Beifong search for Equalist hostages.

Based on the title and description, I feel that we’ll likely see past characters from The Last Airbender within Korra’s visions, specifically Avatar Aang.

Episode 9 could also show Tenzin and Bei Fong search for the non-bending citizens arrested unjustly by Tarlock.

And then there’s Tarlock, who can blood bend whenever he desires. Episode 9 could shape up to include a lot of different plot points.
