Legend of Korra Episode 10 ‘Turning the Tides’ Recap

Episode 10 of The Legend of Korra titled ‘Turning the Tides’ was a bit more simplistic than past episodes – until the end. It contained the common theme of Good vs. Evil: Equalists attacked Republic City and it was up to the Avatar and her friends to help save the people. The theme was certainly present throughout the episode’s entirety, but what made the episode exciting was the element of surprise at the very end.

Episode 10 starts off by showing Korra eating with Mako, Bolin, Asami, Tenzin and his family. Korra tells the gang everything she encountered while being held captive: Tarrlock is the son of Yacone and Amon took Tarrlock’s bending away.

Afterwards, we see Tenzin asking Lin Bei Fong to stay and protect his family while he leaves Air Temple Island for a short excursion. Lin agrees and Tenzin travels to meet with the Chief Officer. Upon his arrival, Tenzin is informed that the Equalists have attacked and captured the rest of the Council Members. This essentially leaves Tenzin in control of Republic City.

When Tenzin leaves the vicinity along with the Chief Officer and his men, they are all attacked by Equalist Mech-Machines. The Chief Officer and his men are eventually captured, leaving Tenzin and a few others to fend for themselves. Tenzin fights off the Equalists for some time, but he is ultimately defeated in the end.

‘The Legend of Korra’ Episode 9 ‘Out of the Past’ Recap

The Legend of Korra episode 9 titled ‘Out of the Past’ was yet another fantastic episode. It further developed the characters, showed us the old ‘Team Avatar’ in numerous flashbacks, and thickened the plot to a point that all my speculations have been proven faulty.

The episode starts off with Tarrlock essentially announcing that the Equalists had ambushed him and Avatar Korra the night before to take Korra captive. In case you may have forgotten, this isn’t what actually happened. In episode 8, we see that Tarrlock attacks Korra and takes her captive himself.

When Tenzin, Bei Fong, Mako, Bolin and Asami hear about this, they decide to break into an Equalist-run underground passage in hopes of finding Bei Fong’s lost men and Korra. Towards the end of the tunnel, Tenzin and company find Bei Fong’s lost men, but not Korra. The lost men confirm that Amon had taken away their bending once he took them hostage.

Later, Tenzin and company find out from an Equalist member that the Equalists were not responsible for the attack that Tarrlock accused them of. Tenzin then uses this as evidence to convict Tarrlock of framing the Equalists for the attack and taking Korra hostage himself.

‘The Legend of Korra’ Episode 8 ‘When Extremes Meet’ Recap

20120602-231120.jpg

Episode 8 of The Legend of Korra takes place almost directly after episode 7. Since Asami, Mako and Bolin are no longer welcome in Hiroshi Sato’s mansion, the episode starts off by showing the gang move into their new home: Air Temple Island.

As the gang begins to settle in, Tenzin announces that Lin Bei Fong has officially resigned from her duty as Chief Officer of Republic City. Once the news is heard, Tenzin and the gang decide to go down to City Hall to see the new Chief Officer, who explains that the police force will essentially be working with Tarlock to dismantle the Equalist Regime.

Korra is not happy with this.

After the gang leaves City Hall, they eventually have a small run in with a few Equalist Members. Team Avatar makes quick work of the enemies, but a much more serious threat arrives afterwards.

‘Legend of Korra’ Episode 7: ‘The Aftermath’ Recap

The 7th ‘Legend of Korra’ episode ‘The Aftermath’ takes place directly after the events of the last episode. In the beginning, we are immediately informed that the Pro Bending arena will be shut down for repairs, forcing Mako and Bolin to find a new place to live.

But luckily for them, they have their great friend Korra to help them out and, unfortunately for Korra, Mako’s girlfriend Asami as well.

Korra arranges for Mako and Bolin to stay with her at Air Temple Island, but Asami makes arrangements a little quicker. Mako and Bolin ultimately decide to move in with Asami the next day but they insist that Korra comes along to visit the mansion as well.

While in the mansion, Korra overhears Hiroshi Sato, Asami’s father, talking about some sort of attack with the Equalists. The assumption is that Sato is creating weapons for the Equalists and Korra makes it a point to leave immediately and inform Tenzin and Chief Bei Fong.
