Happy Halloween Legend of Korra Fans!

Every year the Nickelodeon Animation Studios spook up their building for Halloween. This year, The Legend of Korra made the cut.

Even though I’m a Senior in High School, I still plan on going Trick-or-Treating this year and I am very excited even though Hurricane Sandy left the East Coast extremely cold and wet.

Anyways, Happy Halloween! Be safe and don’t eat too much candy (yeah, right).

Potential Role for Zuko in Book 2 of The Legend of Korra

Zuko’s character arguably underwent the most character development out of any character in the Avatar series thus far. He went from a whiny, teenage brat who narrowly viewed life to a mature young-adult who put others before himself.

Fortunately for just about every Avatar fan, Zuko has been alive and well during the course of The Legend of Korra thus far. He stepped down as Fire Lord and began to travel the world as an unofficial ambassador for peace.

The mere fact that Zuko was kept alive strongly suggests that we’ll see him at some point during The Legend of Korra. Katara was kept alive and we saw her in the first episode. Aang, Sokka and Toph were deceased but Mike and Bryan still managed to show us their adult counterparts in flashback form. Leaving Zuko out would be a major mistake for Mike and Bryan simply because his character was loved so much. But like I have said multiple times, Mike and Bryan are not dumb: they know what they’re doing.

That being said, I fully expect Zuko to make some sort of appearance during Book 2 of The Legend of Korra, and I think I know a potential role that could suit him well.

The Dark Spirit will have a Small Role in Book 2 of The Legend of Korra

Grey Delisle, the voice actress of Azula, recently held an interview in which she discussed her voice acting experiences during the course of The Last Airbender. After a multitude of humorous remarks, Grey was finally asked about The Dark Spirit.

In case you’re unfamiliar with The Dark Spirit, let me fill you in: Some time ago, Grey Delisle used Twitter to confirm that she’d been hired to do voice work for a character known as The Dark Spirit. We never received too much insight on the character at first, so I did some speculation in order to get potential ideas out to the fandom.

But even after Comic-Con, information on The Dark Spirit was limited. Based on what Grey Delisle said in her recent interview, however, it doesn’t seem like there was much to say about The Dark Spirit in the first place. According to Grey, The Dark Spirit will have a “teeny, tiny part” in the upcoming book.

Grey DeLisle to Voice a New Character in Book 3 of The Legend of Korra

20121024-070847.jpg

Grey DeLisle used Twitter last night to confirm that she’ll be responsible for the voice of a new character in the The Legend of Korra. She also confirmed that she’ll start recording later this week.

Because voice work will start later this week for this character, we can only assume that the character will make its debut in Book 3 since Book 3 recording has effectively been confirmed.

The tweet that Grey tweeted hasn’t been deleted (yet), but here’s a screen shot of it, anyways:

Voices Acting for Book 3 of The Legend of Korra has Started

When Seychelle Gabriel tweeted that she was reading the first script of Book 3 of The Legend of Korra, I hadn’t really looked at all the possibilities. I assumed that since the first script had been completed, revisions would be the next step in the process. But the term “first script” can mean many different things.

“First script” can also refer to the first episode of Book 3 since it would technically be the first script involving Book 3. And if you look at it from a voice actor’s point of view, there are only a few reasons why one would get a copy of the script at all: to ready themselves for a recording session.

Because Seychelle Gabriel has already received a copy of the script, I think it’s safe to bet that the voice recording for Book 3 has started. And just to pile on more evidence, I should mention that Janet Varney (Korra), P.J. Byrne (Bolin) and David Faustino (Mako) utilized Twitter last night to hint at this possibility as well. Their feed was rather comedic:

The First Script of Book 3 of The Legend of Korra is Complete

20121017-232437.jpg

Seychelle Gabriel, the voice actress of Asami, tried to be sneaky on Twitter a few days ago. Sometime within the last 48 hours, she tweeted that she was reading the first script of Book 3 of The Legend of Korra and that she’s loving Tenzin’s character.

The best part about this tweet, however, is that it’s been deleted. Unfortunately for Seychelle, the internet allows us to preserve data that has seemingly been deleted. I was able to obtain a screen shot of the tweet before it was deleted, thanks to my Twitter followers.

A screen shot of the full tweet can be seen below:

DiMartino: Book 2 of The Legend of Korra Will Contain Some Aspects of Book 1

First off, I’d like to apologize for not posting for a little while. After covering The Legend of Korra constantly for so many months, I needed a short break to rejuvenate myself and come up with good, speculative content to post during this ‘off-season’.

About a week ago, Michael Dante DiMartino (co-creator of The Legend of Korra) held and interview in which he let a few more Book 2 details slip. DiMartino was asked about Book 1’s season finale, and whether or not it really tied up all loose ends. This was a very valid question mostly because, since the finale, many fans have been trying to prove that Amon is very much alive.

DiMartino’s response was rather interesting:

Is Bolin Severely Lacking Character Development in The Legend of Korra?

One of my favorite characters so far in The Legend of Korra has to be Bolin. He’s funny, entertaining and he’s fairly a talented Earth Bender. Unfortunately for him, that’s all he really has going for him so far, which makes him the very definition of a one-sided character.

Like Sokka, Bolin is responsible for a good chunk of the humor in the series. But if you recall the character development Sokka underwent in The Last Airbender, he was much more than the “funny guy” by the end of the series. He became dynamic: he was funny, intelligent, skilled with a blade and a natural born leader.

Bolin currently lacks the traits that would make him a dynamic character mostly because his character lacks character development. But like I have constantly reiterated, this should be expected as we’ve technically only scene him in 11 episodes. Nonetheless, I still expect Mike and Bryan to develop Bolin’s character significantly by the end of Book 2.

How will Lin Beifong Fit into Book 2 of The Legend of Korra?

Despite being the daughter of Toph, Lin Beifong didn’t come off as very likable in the beginning of The Legend of Korra. She came off as extremely rude from from the start, but quickly began to change for the better towards the end of the Book.

One action that I found to be admirable from Lin was when she resigned from being the Chief of Police in order to take actions that the law wouldn’t have permitted.

She became the vigilante of Republic City that Batman was to Gotham City. She’s not the type of character who would lurk in the shadows and throw Batarangs at her enemies, but she was someone who would undoubtedly protect her city as well as what she believed in.

For that reason alone, Lin Beifong went from a character who was rude and unlikable to a character who could truly be admired. As a result, she started to become a fan favorite. Unfortunately, I don’t expect to see much of Lin  in Book 2 of The Legend of Korra.

Descendants of Sokka in Book 2 of The Legend of Korra?

This post was written by a new author known as AvatarKatara15. Please give AvatarKatara15 a warm welcoming as the first of three new authors a part of this site.

Sokka of the Southern Watertribe: easily one of the most beloved characters in The Last Airbender. Older brother of Katara and good friend of Toph Beifong, Firelord Zuko, and past Avatar Aang. Sarcastically funny and goofy. A man who fought with his trusty boomerang.

These were the aspects of Sokka that we were introduced to throughout The Last Airbender. But one aspect that we are still oblivious to is his possible children.

Where are his children? Did Sokka and Suki even have children? Did their children have their parents’ grandchildren? In my opinion they did. But where they are now is a mystery to me. Maybe Korra and the gang will run into them during Book 2?
