Potential Role for Zuko in Book 2 of The Legend of Korra

Zuko’s character arguably underwent the most character development out of any character in the Avatar series thus far. He went from a whiny, teenage brat who narrowly viewed life to a mature young-adult who put others before himself.

Fortunately for just about every Avatar fan, Zuko has been alive and well during the course of The Legend of Korra thus far. He stepped down as Fire Lord and began to travel the world as an unofficial ambassador for peace.

The mere fact that Zuko was kept alive strongly suggests that we’ll see him at some point during The Legend of Korra. Katara was kept alive and we saw her in the first episode. Aang, Sokka and Toph were deceased but Mike and Bryan still managed to show us their adult counterparts in flashback form. Leaving Zuko out would be a major mistake for Mike and Bryan simply because his character was loved so much. But like I have said multiple times, Mike and Bryan are not dumb: they know what they’re doing.

That being said, I fully expect Zuko to make some sort of appearance during Book 2 of The Legend of Korra, and I think I know a potential role that could suit him well.

Picture of Zuko from Book 2 of The Legend of Korra Leaked

Editor’s Note: I just learned that this leak is not exactly new, it’s been out for a bit but it hasn’t spread across the internet very well. So if you haven’t seen it, you have now. If you have seen it, I apologize.

Update: Nico, a commentor on this blog, provided a link proving that this image is indeed fake. You can view the link in the comment section below. Thank you, Nico for providing us with this information.

After browsing through some forums and comment boards, I came across storyboard art that depicted a man with a scar accompanied by his wife and daughter. If you’re an Avatar Fan to any degree, you’d know that the characters in this picture are Zuko, Mai and their daughter who is currently the Fire Lord of the Avatar World.

We’ve known for quite some time now that Zuko is indeed alive during the course of The Legend of Korra, but we never knew if we’d ever see him. Based on this picture, it looks like we can confirm that we’ll at least see him in flashback form.

Legend of Korra Episode 10 ‘Turning the Tides’ Recap

Episode 10 of The Legend of Korra titled ‘Turning the Tides’ was a bit more simplistic than past episodes – until the end. It contained the common theme of Good vs. Evil: Equalists attacked Republic City and it was up to the Avatar and her friends to help save the people. The theme was certainly present throughout the episode’s entirety, but what made the episode exciting was the element of surprise at the very end.

Episode 10 starts off by showing Korra eating with Mako, Bolin, Asami, Tenzin and his family. Korra tells the gang everything she encountered while being held captive: Tarrlock is the son of Yacone and Amon took Tarrlock’s bending away.

Afterwards, we see Tenzin asking Lin Bei Fong to stay and protect his family while he leaves Air Temple Island for a short excursion. Lin agrees and Tenzin travels to meet with the Chief Officer. Upon his arrival, Tenzin is informed that the Equalists have attacked and captured the rest of the Council Members. This essentially leaves Tenzin in control of Republic City.

When Tenzin leaves the vicinity along with the Chief Officer and his men, they are all attacked by Equalist Mech-Machines. The Chief Officer and his men are eventually captured, leaving Tenzin and a few others to fend for themselves. Tenzin fights off the Equalists for some time, but he is ultimately defeated in the end.

Zuko is Still Alive in ‘The Legend of Korra’

Zuko is still alive and well in ‘The Legend of Korra’ according to the interactive Republic City on Nick.com. He stepped down as Fire Lord Years ago and now travels the world as an ambassador for peace.

Zuko gave the thrown to his daughter, who hopefully still carries the same peaceful mentality as her father.

Because Zuko was kept alive, I feel that we’ll see him at some point during an episode of ‘The Legend of Korra’. But he’ll be different: He will be very old, and he won’t have Dante Basco’s wispy voice. Bummer.
