Picture of Mako From Book 2 of The Legend of Korra Leaked [Update: Leak is Fake]

Update: It looks like this leak is actually fake. A commentator by the alias of Zhaolives brought this to my attention and explained that this picture is actually an early concept art of Mako that the artist Joaquim dos Santos did back in 2010. Here’s a link to the full picture with Santos’ signature.

It looks like our first potential Book 2 leak has finally arrived. I have to give Avatar Jesal (Avatar Commentator on YouTube) props for finding this one, but I think we can all agree that this leak is not exactly confirmed. It surely looks likes it could be from Book 2 since we can clearly see the snow in the background as well as the clothing Mako is expected to wear, but nothing is official.

I say this because even though this does look fairly real, there are a lot extremely talented artists out there that can recreate things and make them look professional. Remember when I posted about the potential leak of Zuko and his Daughter from Book 2? That turned out to be some fan art someone posted to the internet.

Will the Death of Bolin and Mako’s Parents be Talked About in Book 2 of The Legend of Korra?

Towards the beginning of Book 1 of The Legend of Korra, we were informed that Mako and Bolin had lost their parents to a firebending mugger at very young ages. But after this was mentioned, it was never really touched upon again throughout the course of Book 1. Mike and Bryan kind of set that story to the side and continued with the main focus: the Equalist Regime. But I can understand why they chose not to talk about the death of Mako and Bolin’s parent in Book 1. Fitting so many dynamic storylines in 12 episodes is a nearly impossible task. But either way, this is still no excuses to completely scrap the idea all together.

At some point in the series, I expect Mike and Bryan to at least revisit the death again. In reality, it’s actually an extremely important scene in the series as a whole, and by not revisiting it, Mike and Bryan could severally delay the character development of Mako and Bolin. But I have faith in Mike and Bryan to talk about the death at some point. In fact, I’m expecting a flashback of the death sometime during the course of Book 2.

The Legend of Korra Book 2 Speculation: Character Development

This is a series where we speculate everything there is to know about Book 2 of The Legend of Korra. We have currently covered speculation on the book’s setting. Today we focus on the book’s character development.

Character development is what essentially makes us love the characters of the Avatar World so much. Over the years, Mike and Bryan have done such a phenomenal job developing their characters and giving them the personalities that we have learned to fall in love with. Aang was molded into a much more peaceful character while Korra was molded into a more aggressive character.

In The Last Airbender, almost every main character introduced was developed into a seemingly life-like person. That’s why we cared so much about their relationships: They seemed real to us. So far, Mike and Bryan have developed their characters fairly well in The Legend of Korra, but they still have a long way to go with a few of them.
